Quality Nifty-Fifty By: Roarton, on December 30, 2017 Pros: Cons: "A good value alternative 'nifty-fifty' for photographers who can't afford an f/1.0 auto-focus. Most won't be able to tell the difference. |

Decent lens for not a lot of money By: Dobro, on August 20, 2015 Pros: Cons: "Cheap and cheerful (standard? ) lens for Canon. This lens equates to about 80mm when used with a crop frame sensor, as on the Canon 40D/50D. The faster f/1.8 aperture allows it to be a useful portrait lens. Okay it's got a plastic mount but is that really such a drawback? It will stand up to normal use fairly well I would think. Mine is a little bit noisy in focusing but otherwise does the job well. The optics are very good considering the price. Worth a punt I'd say. |

Fantastic Prime Lens By: Brian Hamilton, on October 11, 2008 Pros: Cons: "This is the first prime lens I have bought and I didn't know whether to go for the f1.8 or this one. After much research I went for the f1.4, the build quality is much better, the focussing is improved and that extra stop counts for a lot. The simplicity of this lens is such an eye opener, you have to work for your shots now instead of standing still and zooming in on everything. Your legs become your zoom and because of this you are much more likely to raise or lower your normal eye-level view... |
